Rita Williams Garcia’s books are a family favorite of ours. We listened to the first installment of her Gaither Sisters Saga and were immediately hooked. Delphine, Vonetta, and Fern’s relationship is realistic and hilarious. Dialogue is a difficult thing to execute well, but the way she writes it their conversations become quick and natural.
Each of the sisters are individual and unique yet they are united. And throughout the narrative they dash from one adventure to another beautifully. It’s amazing to see the 60s through the lens of young children and their personal experiences. Also, you get to witness the different views people of the time had toward the Black Panther movement. It’s a high paced exciting trilogy that everyone should read.
